Haitian Renaissance Delegation - Academia

The Haitian renaissance delegation model is HR&DC’s founder and CEO Jim Lange’s concept to gather together an unprecedented pool of intellectual capital from around the world, to create dynamic, long-term “solutions teams.”

The desired outcome: To provide Haiti with intellectual capital and long-term activism, and to help inspire a Haitian Renaissance.

To begin, delegation membership will represent 11 disciplines (see the list below). In some cases, it is anticipated specific disciplines will have more than one delegate member.

Each selected discipline will have four delegate members; three students (one student from the host university, one “at-large” student, one Haitian-born student) and one tenured professor.

Delegate members will operate within three spheres:

1) their own discipline

2) teamed with three other delegate members

3) the greater collective

Based upon the three sphere approach, delegate members will have a variety of individual, pod and collective-specific deliverables due throughout their tenure.

Haitian Renaissance Delegate Membership Term

Delegate members will serve in one-year increments, with renewals throughout their college years being the desired norm. The classification of delegate members will automatically convert to that of “Ambassador” immediately upon graduation, with four-year commitments being the desired norm.

Haitian Renaissance Delegate Application

To become a delegate member a student must submit an application for review by HR&DC’s senior leadership team (SLT) and delegation leadership. Those students that meet the current need within the delegation are provided with a membership offer letter. If the student accepts their offer they will complete a delegate file and be assigned to a team within the discipline.
